Areas zoned “open space” shall be designated on the zoning map with the symbol “OS.” (Ord. 2706-03 § 16 (part), 2003.)
19.33F.020 Permitted uses and review processes.
Permitted uses in the open space zone include public access improvements, such as trails, educational and interpretive signs and facilities, benches, and nonmotorized boating facilities; utilities; transportation facilities of statewide significance; and other uses permitted in the shoreline master program. When applicable, all uses must be consistent with the uses allowed in Chapter 19.37, Critical Areas. Developments categorically exempt under SEPA shall be reviewed through review process I. All other uses shall be reviewed through review process II, except that developments in shoreline jurisdiction over an acre shall be reviewed through review process III. 19.33F.040 Development standards.
A. General. Any facilities in the open space zone shall be designed and located to minimize impacts on adjacent properties and environmentally sensitive areas. The planning and community development director may condition projects to mitigate impacts. All proposals must be consistent with the shoreline master program, as applicable.
B. Signs. Signs shall be limited to signs identified in Section 19.36.040, Signs exempt from this section, directional signs, educational and interpretive signs, and signs associated with transportation facilities of statewide significance. For development subject to the shoreline master program, standards for educational and interpretive signs shall be determined through the shoreline substantial development or conditional use permit process identified in EMC Title 15, Local Project Review Procedures. For development not subject to the shoreline master program, the planning and community development director using review process II shall determine standards for educational and interpretive signs.
