The respective bonds of the following officers of the City of Everson be and are fixed in the following penal sums:

2.08.020 Statutory appointive officer – City Attorney.
There is hereby established the appointive office of City Attorney, serving as the City Attorney required by RCW 35A.12.010. Mayoral appointment to the office of City Attorney whether as an employee of the City or by professional services contract shall be subject to City Council confirmation; failure of the City Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of notice of appointment at a regular or special council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties and qualifications of the office of the City Attorney shall be as prescribed by general law, ordinance, and the direction of the Mayor or City Council. The compensation of the City Attorney shall be as prescribed by ordinance. [Ord. 566 § 3, 1999; Ord. 2 § 2, 1929.]
2.08.030 Statutory appointive officer – Municipal Court Judge.
There is hereby established the appointive office of Municipal Court Judge, serving as the Municipal Judge required by RCW 35A.12.010. Mayoral appointment to the office of Municipal Court Judge whether as an employee of the City or by professional services contract shall be subject to City Council confirmation; failure of the City Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties, term, and qualifications of the office of the Municipal Court Judge shall be as prescribed by general law. The Mayor shall with the approval and concurrence of the City Council, appoint a Judge or Judges Pro Tem who shall act in the absence or disability of the regular Judge of the Municipal Court or subsequent to the filing of an affidavit of prejudice. Mayoral appointment to the office of Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem whether as an employee of the City or by professional services contract shall be subject to City Council confirmation; failure of the City Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties, term, and qualifications of the office of the Municipal Court Judge shall be as prescribed by general law. The compensation of the Municipal Court Judge shall be as prescribed by ordinance or contract. [Ord. 566 § 4, 1999; Ord. 2 § 3, 1929.]
2.08.040 Appointive officers – Oath required.
The officers herein provided to be appointed by the Mayor shall hold offices during his pleasure only. All officers shall have the qualifications required of them by law and shall take the constitutional oath before entering upon their duties as such. [Ord. 2 § 4, 1929.]
2.08.050 Statutory appointive officer – Chief of Police.
There is hereby established the appointive office of Chief of Police, serving as the chief law enforcement officer required by RCW 35A.12.010. Mayoral appointment to the office of Chief of Police shall be subject to council confirmation; failure of the council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties and qualifications of the office of Chief of Police shall be as prescribed by general law, ordinance, and the direction of the Mayor or City Council. The compensation of the Chief of Police shall be as prescribed by ordinance. [Ord. 566 § 6, 1999; Ord. 322 § 1, 1985.]
2.08.055 Departmental appointive positions – Chief of police.
There are hereby established the following listed departmental appointive positions under the supervision of the Chief of Police:
A. Police Lieutenant.
B. Police Sergeant.
C. Police Patrolman (I, II, III).
D. Part-Time Police Help.
E. Reserve Police Force.
Departmental appointment to these positions shall be subject to Mayoral approval and to Council confirmation; failure of the City Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of the Mayor’s notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties and qualifications of the positions in the office of the Chief of Police shall be as prescribed by general law, ordinance, and the direction of the Chief of Police, Mayor or City Council. The compensation of the appointive positions in the office of the Chief of Police shall be as established by the Civil Service Commission and prescribed by ordinance. [Ord. 566 § 7, 1999.]
2.08.060 Appointive officer – Public Works – Director and/or Supervisor.
There is hereby established the appointive office of Public Works Director in charge of the physical facilities of the City. The Public Works Director may also be known as Public Utility Supervisor. Mayoral appointment to the office of Public Works Director shall be subject to Council confirmation; failure of the Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties and qualifications of the office of Public Works Director shall be as prescribed by general law, ordinance, and the direction of the Mayor or City Council. The compensation of the Public Works Director shall be as prescribed by ordinance. [Ord. 566 § 8, 1999; Ord. 322 § 2, 1985.]
2.08.065 Departmental appointive positions – Public Works.
There are hereby established the following listed departmental appointive positions under the supervision of the Public Works Director:
A. Water/Sewer Superintendent.
B. Utility Maintenance Worker (I, II, III).
C. Building Inspector.
D. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
E. Part-Time Parks and Utility Help.
One or more position titles may be assigned to the same individual. Departmental appointment to these positions shall be subject to Mayoral approval and to Council confirmation; failure of the City Council to confirm or reject an appointee within 30 days of receipt of the Mayor’s notice of appointment at a regular or special City Council meeting shall be deemed confirmation. The authority, duties and qualifications of the positions in the Public Works Department shall be as prescribed by general law, ordinance, and the direction of the Public Works Director, Mayor or City Council. The compensation of the appointive positions in the Public Works Department shall be as prescribed by ordinance. [Ord. 566 § 9, 1999; Ord. 322 § 3, 1985.]
