POLICE RESERVE UNIT

2.38.010 Unit established.
There is established a police reserve unit to consist of such members as may be appointed from time to time by the chief of police. (Ord. 1457 §2(part), 2015; Ord. 1374 §1(part), 2008)
2.38.020 Duties and authority.
Members of the police reserve unit shall assist the police department in its duties as may be determined by the chief of police. All reserve officers will be allowed a commission granting full police authority only within the city limits of Goldendale and while working or assisting the police department. Limited commissions may be granted during time of emergency or special circumstances. All reserve officers must maintain good standing with the police department and are subject to the provisions of the Goldendale personnel policy and policies of the Goldendale police department. 2.38.030 Workmen’s compensation insurance.
The city shall provide and pay for workmen’s compensation insurance to all members of the police reserve unit. (Ord. 1374 §1(part), 2008)
2.38.040 Volunteer firefighters’ relief and pension benefits allowed for police reserve officers.
The state has by Chapter 41.24 RCW provided for the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief and Pension Act, the benefits of which are extended to qualifying reserve police officers.
The State Board for Volunteer Firefighters administers the Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief and Pension Act. (Ord. 1374 §1(part), 2008)
2.38.050 Participation in volunteer firefighters’ relief and pension plan.
The city of Goldendale shall allow participation in the volunteer firefighters’ relief and pension plan, administered by the State Board for Volunteer Firefighters, by qualifying reserve police officers who meet the minimum qualifications for service. Upon this determination by the chief of police, the city shall pay the cost of all credit and pension fees for service as a reserve police officer.
