2.116.010 Creation—Composition.
There is created a department of the city known as the building department, which shall be under the supervision of the building official, who shall be the department head of such department and shall be appointed by the city manager. (Ord. 3089 § 1, 1987)
2.116.020 Building official—Powers and duties.
The powers and duties of the building official shall be as follows:
A. Issue building and related permits;
B. Review, interpret and enforce building and housing codes and ordinances; recommend changes and additions as needed;
C. Establish, evaluate, and revise building inspection procedures, practices, and rules in conformance with city codes;
D. Investigate and prepare reports on special problems, technical data, and other designated subjects;
E. Conduct plan reviews and field inspections and assign and supervise the work of all employees of the department;
F. Review performance of subordinate personnel and initiate training programs according to department needs;
G. Prepare and administer the annual budget for the building department;
H. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the city manager from time to time. (Ord. 3089 § 2, 1987)
