EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION

3.40.010 Nomination.

Employees may be nominated for recognition by a fellow employee, a Commissioner, or by a member of the public. Categories for recognition shall include:

(1) Years of service (starting at five years and every five years thereafter).

(2) Retirement.

(3) Customer service.

(4) District employee of the month/quarter/year.

(5) Safety award.

3.40.020 Review committee.

The Manager of Administration shall form a committee to review nominations, with nomination reviews occurring during two-week intervals, as needed, on an annual basis. The employee appreciation program will be included in the District’s annual budget guidelines. The Committee will be comprised of four to six District employees with no set term. Committee members should be enthusiastic and supportive of the purposes and goals of the Committee. The Committee is voluntary, as is the participation in the program. The Committee will meet at least once a year with the agenda planned by the chairperson. The duties of the Committee are as follows:

(1) Provide enthusiastic support of the purpose and goal of the wellness program.

(2) Create ownership in the employee appreciation program amongst their peers through interest in planning and participation.

(3) Determine employee recognition: annual basis or as a special recognition of completion of goals per the wellness program.

(4) The Committee shall have the authority to recognize employees within the guidelines of this chapter and have the authority to do so at planned District events in order to promote positive awareness for a job well done.

(5) The Committee shall work within the approved budget that has been established per the standard District guideline, and any expenses must be approved by the Manager of Administration or the General Manager.

(6) Committee meetings that are scheduled with staff may include provision of water, pop, and/or a light snack. If the Committee meeting is held during the lunch hour and is a mandatory meeting in which official business is to be discussed, the District will provide a meal for each employee in attendance, subject to reasonable cost limits established by the Manager of Administration or the General Manager. 3.40.030 Clothing allowance.

On his or her date of hire, each hire of the District shall receive a noncashable credit of up to $50.00 to be applied towards preselected Lake Stevens Sewer District apparel. Employees also shall have the option of purchasing, with their own funds, any of the preselected apparel even if it is not their anniversary. A new employee hired after April 2013 who completes his/her 90-day probationary period is eligible for a one-time $50.00 clothing allowance. 3.40.040 Money-saving ideas.

For each money-saving idea brought forward to the management team that is implemented and saves the District more than $100.00, the employee responsible for the idea shall receive a gift card from a preselected store with a value not to exceed $10.00. The Manager of Administration will track the cards and the supporting documentation for the savings and employee who received the card. [Res. 898 § 4, 2015.]
