PUBLIC SAFETY FUND

3.60.010 Fund established and purpose.

There is hereby created and established the public safety fund. The purpose of the public safety fund is to segregate, budget, expend, and account for moneys derived from the traffic safety camera enforcement program implemented pursuant to Chapter 11.04 LMC, Automated Traffic Safety Cameras. Expenditures from the public safety fund may only be used for the purpose of paying for the costs of the traffic safety camera enforcement program, including administrative and personnel costs, contractors, and professional services (including traffic engineering services); provided, however, if there are surplus moneys in the fund, then the surplus moneys may be expended for costs associated with traffic and pedestrian safety programs, projects, and activities unrelated to the automated traffic safety camera program, including street lighting, pedestrian street crossings and sidewalks, law enforcement capital facilities and equipment, and street maintenance equipment.
