15.68.010 Changes in service.
(1) When new buildings are to be constructed on the site of old buildings, and (a) it is desired to increase the size or change the location of the existing service connection, or (b) where a service connection to any premises is abandoned or its use no longer desired, the director may remove the service connection. When, in the future, a service connection is requested by the owner, a new service may be constructed only upon application of the owner and upon application and payment for a new connection in the regular manner.
(2) When there is no water main adjacent to a premises and the service line connects to a nonadjacent water main, then, when a main is constructed adjacent to said premises, the owner shall connect the service to the adjacent water main. The director will give the owner 90 days’ notice to move the connection. After reconnection, the city will remove the existing tap at the water main. The owner will complete the above-referenced permit which will be issued at no cost to the owner. (Ord. 3533 § 1, 2024).
15.68.020 Removal of meter for nonpayment of charges – Reinstallation.
When a meter has been removed from any premises for nonpayment of water charges, or for any other lawful or proper cause, it is unlawful for any person to again connect such premises with water until all arrearages for the premises have been paid and application has been made for reinstallation of the meter and other cause or causes corrected to the satisfaction of the director. (Ord. 3533 § 1, 2024).
15.68.030 Interruption of service.
When water has been shut off by the city for any cause and is turned on again, or allowed or caused to be turned on by the owner, no remission of rates will be made on account of its having been shut off, and the director may then shut off the water at the main or remove a portion of the service connection in the street, and shall charge the actual cost of cutting out and reinstating the water supply to the premises. 15.68.040 Discontinuance of service.
The city reserves the right at any time, without notice, to shut off the water supply for repairs, extensions, nonpayment of rates, or any other reason, and the city shall not be responsible nor liable for any damage such as bursting of boilers supplied by direct pressure; the breaking of any pipes or fixtures; stoppage or interruption of water supply; or any other damage resulting from the shutting off of water.
