BIENNIAL BUDGET

3.01.010 Biennial budget established.

There is hereby established a two-year biennium budget for the City of Maple Valley, Washington, beginning January 1, 2017. The 2017-2018 biennial budget and all subsequent budgets shall be prepared, considered, and adopted under the provisions of this chapter and Chapter 35A.34 RCW, which is hereby adopted by reference. 3.01.020 Mid-biennium budget review.

Pursuant to RCW 35A.34.130, the City Council shall provide for a midbiennial review and modification of the biennial budget that shall occur no sooner than eight months after the start of the fiscal biennium, nor later than the conclusion of the first year of the biennium. The City Manager shall prepare proposed budget modifications and shall provide for publication and notice of hearings consistent with publication of notices for adoption of other City ordinances. Such proposed modifications are a public record subject to a public hearing and, once completed, shall be made available to all members of the legislative body and shall be posted on the City’s website so that they are made available to the public. A public hearing shall be advertised at least once and shall be held at a City Council meeting no later than the first Monday in December and may be continued from time to time. At such a hearing or thereafter, the Council may consider a proposed ordinance to carry out such modifications, and such ordinance shall be subject to the other provisions of Chapter 35A.34 RCW.
