15.28.010 Expansion joint required where.

All buildings hereafter constructed, which shall abut upon any sidewalk in the city shall have an expansion joint between the building and the sidewalk so inserted as to allow the building to settle and not affect the sidewalk. (Ord. 662 § 1, 1926).

15.28.020 Repair of inclined sidewalk required.

All owners of buildings abutting upon any sidewalk in the city, whose building has caused the abutting sidewalk to incline toward the property line, or settle or sink so as to cause water to stand upon or run toward the building instead of the gutter, shall repair the sidewalk and reconstruct it to proper grade. (Ord. 662 § 2, 1926).

15.28.030 Downspouts or drainpipes required – Installation method.

All buildings heretofore or hereafter constructed in the city upon which are constructed any marquee, downspout or other water conduit must have such downspout, conduit or drainpipe leading from such marquee, or building embedded in or put underneath the abutting sidewalk if it is intended to be wasted into the street, so that all water shall flow through such pipe or conduit in or under and not over or upon the surface of the sidewalk. (Ord. 662 § 3, 1926).

15.28.040 Violations – Penalties.

Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions contained in this chapter shall be subject to the enforcement provisions contained in MVMC Title 19, Code Enforcement. (Ord. 3440 § 18, 2008).
