QUARANTINE OF ANIMALS

6.34.010 Quarantine authorized.
Whenever in the animal control authority’s determination it becomes desirable or necessary to quarantine an animal, the animal control authority shall order the quarantine of such animal and direct such actions as will effectively segregate the animal, and request veterinary assistance. Every animal that bites a human, and any animal suspected of having or being exposed to rabies, shall be promptly reported to the animal control authority. (Ord. 1105 § 2 (part), 2004)
6.34.020 Conditions of quarantine.
Conditions of quarantine shall be in writing and determined by the animal control authority. Quarantine may be in a secure structure on the owner’s premises, at the city’s designated impound facility, or at a veterinary hospital. The quarantine period shall be for ten days and at the owner’s sole expense. (Ord. 1105 § 2 (part), 2004)
6.34.030 Termination of quarantine.
Once commenced, no quarantine shall be terminated except upon order of the animal control authority. (Ord. 1105 § 2 (part), 2004)
6.34.040 Compliance with quarantine.
It shall be unlawful for any person or owner to fail to comply with the conditions of quarantine defined by the animal control authority. (Ord. 1105 § 2 (part), 2004)
6.34.050 Penalty.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor subject to the provisions contained in Section 1.32.010(B), General penalties. (Ord. 1105 § 2 (part), 2004)
