2.32.010 Established.

A civil service commission is established. The commission shall consist of three members who shall be appointed by the mayor. No person shall be appointed who is not a citizen of the United States and a resident of the city of Oak Harbor for at least three years preceding his appointment and who is an elector of Island County. The term of office of each commissioner shall be for six years; except the present civil service members shall serve for the duration of their respective unexpired terms. Any member of such commission may be removed from office for incompetency, incapability and dereliction of duty or malfeasance of office, or other good cause after charges have been preferred against him in writing, and due notice and a full hearing have been held by the council. Two members of such commission shall constitute a quorum and the vote of any two members of such commission concurring shall be sufficient for the decisions of all matters and the transaction of all business. 2.32.020 State provisions adopted.

RCW 41.12.040 to and through 41.12.900 as amended to the date of the ordinance codified in this chapter are adopted by reference and made a part of this chapter. (Ord. 632 § 2, 1983).

2.32.030 Duties.

The duties of the civil service commission shall include supervision of civil service for full-time paid city firemen. RCW 41.08.040 to 41.08.220 as now in effect are adopted by reference. The powers of the commission are enlarged as set forth in said sections and the commissioners are directed to enact rules and regulations to implement said sections. The civil service commission shall have power to implement the provisions contained by consistent rules and regulations. (Ord. 632 § 3, 1983).
