2.44.010 Ex officio.

The mayor and chief of police are made ex officio health officers of the city, and shall at all times be health officers unless the city council by a resolution makes a special appointment of some person to the office. (Ord. 14 § 1, 1908)

2.44.020 Special appointment.

In case the city council appoints someone to hold the office of health officer such person shall during his incumbency of the office supplant the ex officio health officers. (Ord. 14 § 2, 1908)

2.44.030 Duties.

It shall be the duty of the health officer or officers to inspect from time to time all places within the city limits that are liable to get in an unsanitary condition, and see that the same are cleaned up and maintained in a clean and healthful condition in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. (Ord. 14 § 3, 1908)

2.44.040 Quarantine regulations.

The health officer or officers are authorized to make and put in force such reasonable quarantine regulations as necessity may require at any time within the limits of the city, and anyone refusing or neglecting to observe and obey such regulations is guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable as provided in this chapter. (Ord. 14 § 7, 1908)

2.44.050 Violation – Penalty.

Any person or company who neglects or refuses for an unreasonable length of time to clean up premises under their care, custody or control and put the same in a safe and sanitary condition after being notified so to do by any health officer of the city, and any person who creates any place that is unsanitary and dangerous to the health and comfort of the community or any portion thereof, and any and all persons offending against any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not less than $1.00 or more than $100.00, and the costs of prosecution.
