SPECIAL INVESTIGATIVE UNIT IMPREST FUND

3.76.010 Established.
There is established an imprest fund for the sole purpose of law enforcement undercover operations for the city police department. The imprest fund established shall be known as the “Special Investigative Unit (SIU) Imprest Fund” and will be maintained at the Kitsap County Bank as a checking account, and confidential investigative expenses and purchases will be by check. The police chief is designated custodian of the fund thus established. (Ord. 1428 § 1, 1988; Ord. 1365 § 1, 1986).
3.76.020 Police chief authorized to maintain balance.
The police chief is authorized to maintain a balance of $1,000 in the imprest fund. The imprest fund must be replenished by the warrant, to the custodian, monthly and at the end of the fiscal year. (Ord. 1428 § 2, 1988; Ord. 1365 § 2, 1986).
3.76.030 Fund to be used for city purposes only.
The imprest fund may used for personal cash advances/loans. The fund must be used for the city’s purposes only. If used other than for official business purposes, it shall be considered a misappropriation of public funds. (Ord. 1428 § 3, 1988; Ord. 1365 § 3, 1986).
