PRELIMINARY ARTICLE

9A.01 Preliminary article.
(1) This title shall be known and may be cited as the “Puyallup Criminal Code.”
(2) If any provision of this title, or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of this title, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected, and to this end the provisions of this title are declared to be severable.
(3) Chapter, section, and subsection citations are for organizational purposes only and shall not be construed as part of this title.
(4) Whenever the word “state” shall appear in any statute adopted by reference in this title the word “city” shall be substituted therefor.
(5) Whenever a state statute adopted in this title refers to another state statute not specifically adopted in this title, the statute referred to shall be given the force and effect necessary to enforce the statute specifically adopted in this title.
(6) Any chapter or section of this title that is repealed or amended by ordinance shall remain in full force and effect until the effective date of the ordinance repealing or amending the chapter or section. Any statute that is adopted by reference which is later amended or repealed shall remain in full force and effect until the effective date of the legislative act that repeals or amends the state statute. The amendment of any state statute adopted in this title shall be given its full force and effect upon the effective date of its amendment.
(7) When issuing a citation, information, or complaint for the violation of any statute adopted by this title, it shall be sufficient for an officer or prosecutor to cite to and refer to the section number as set forth in the Revised Code of Washington. (Ord. 2719 § 1, 2002; Ord. 2105 § 3, 1986).
