18.10.005 Purpose and intent.
The comprehensive plan establishes the principles, goals, objectives and policies guiding future development of the city of Puyallup in compliance with Chapter 36.70A RCW, the Washington State Growth Management Act. The plan serves as: the basis of zoning, subdivision and other regulations controlling the use of private and public lands; as a guide for regulations which protect environmentally critical areas; as a guide for capital facilities programs, capital budgeting decisions, and the provision of adequate public facilities; the basis for meeting the housing needs of the community; and for the design of transportation systems.
The intent of this title is to provide procedures and criteria for amending the comprehensive plan and to encourage early and continuous opportunities for public participation in the annual amendment process and other city-initiated planning programs which may be carried out under the overall framework of the plan.
