1.36.005 Purpose.
The purpose of this chapter is to fix bonding requirements for public officials of the city of Ritzville. (Ord. 729 § 1, 1984).
1.36.010 Bonding requirements.
The offices of city clerk/treasurer, deputy city clerk/treasurer, chief of police, city attorney, public works director, and other such public offices as the city of Ritzville may from time to time determine shall be bonded in such amounts as may be determined from time to time by resolution or ordinance of the city council prior to their assuming office. (Ord. 1092 § 19, 2005; Ord. 729 § 2, 1984).
1.36.015 Change of bonding requirements in the future.
The city council may hereafter provide for changes in bonding requirements by resolution. (Ord. 729 § 3, 1984).
1.36.020 Addition of other public employees.
The city council may hereafter require bond coverage of other public officials of the city of Ritzville by resolution. (Ord. 729 § 4, 1984).
1.36.025 Conditions of bonds.
The conditions of the foregoing bonds and each of them shall be that the respective officers shall faithfully perform their respective duties as the same are now set out by existing laws of the state of Washington, ordinances of the city of Ritzville, resolutions or orders thereof, and for the faithful performance of any duties that may hereafter be imposed upon said officers. (Ord. 729 § 5, 1984).
1.36.030 Approval by council required.
The bonds shall be approved by the city council, and it shall be unlawful, and no officer shall be entitled to qualify or assume the duties of his office until said bonds have been so approved by the city council. (Ord. 139 § 3, 1908).
1.36.040 Filing.
The bond of the city clerk/treasurer shall be filed with the mayor and all other bonds provided for in this chapter shall be filed with the clerk, and he shall be held responsible for the same. (Ord. 139 § 3, 1908).
