2.04.010 Regular meeting date and time.

The regular monthly meeting of the city council shall be held on the second Thursday of each month commencing at 6:00 p.m. All regular meetings shall be held at City Hall and shall be open to the public. (Ord. 22-207 § 1; Ord. 16-144 § 1).

2.04.020 Special meetings.

Special meetings may be called at any time by the mayor or by three city councilmembers, by giving, delivering personally or by mail, written notice to each member of the council, and to each local newspaper of general circulation and to each local radio or television station which has on file with the city a written request to be notified not less than 24 hours of the time of such meeting as specified in the notice. Special meeting notices shall contain the time and place of the meeting and a brief description of the business to be transacted at the special meeting. All special meetings shall be subject to the State Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 42.30 RCW. (Ord. 99-032 § 1).

2.04.030 Location and time.

2.04.040 Compensation.

A. The mayor of the city of Rock Island shall receive $2,000 per month as compensation for the performance of official duties as mayor of the city. In addition, the mayor shall be reimbursed for mileage when the mayor uses his or her personal vehicle for official city travel outside of the city, and the mayor may be reimbursed for other expenses as approved by the city council. In addition, the mayor shall be provided with the same health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits as are provided by the city to all full-time employees of the city.

B. Members of the city council shall receive $100.00 in compensation for each official meeting that they attend in any month up to a total amount of compensation in any month of $200.00.

C. For purposes of this section, an “official meeting” shall mean a meeting at which the city council member is present in his/her official capacity, representing the city, and shall not necessarily be limited to regular or special city council meetings.

D. The mayor shall have the authority granted to him under RCW 35A.12.100 regarding personnel. The city council shall retain its budget authority to set and control salaries.
