13.16.010 Charge for services.

Though the sheriff’s department will not offer its services for marine salvage and rescue unless private salvagers are not able or willing to render assistance, the sheriff’s department may undertake rescue and salvage operations when private individuals cannot or will not undertake the same, and charge the persons assisted for the cost of such service, which shall be determined by the sheriff after considering the amount of time required by personnel of his/her department and the rate paid such personnel for that time, the operating cost incurred in rendering assistance and the cost of repairs or replacement of equipment accruing by reason of such service. (Ord. 25-2009 § 2. Formerly 9.32.010)

13.16.020 Right of appeal.

Any person charged for such service who feels that the charge is excessive may appeal the sheriff’s determination as to the amount of the charge to the County council by requesting a hearing for this purpose, which hearing shall be held as expeditiously as possible. (Ord. 25-2009 § 3. Formerly 9.32.020)

The sums received for services rendered by the County sheriff’s department, as provided for in this chapter, shall be placed in the County current expense fund upon receipt. (Ord. 25-2009 § 4; Res. 87-1977. Formerly 9.32.030)
