2.24.010 Department created.

The department of public works, which shall include the divisions of administration and engineering, street maintenance and construction, water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, solid waste, parks and recreation and other divisions as the city council may from time to time designate, is created. 2.24.020 Director—Appointed.

The director shall be appointed by the city manager. (Ord. 2009-0623 § 3, 2023; Ord. 1921-0518 (part), 2018; Ord. 1308 § 1.3, 1990)

2.24.030 Director—Duties.

The public works director shall have direct control and management of all members of the department in the exercise of their duties, subject to the provisions of law and of city ordinances, departmental policies, and collective bargaining agreements. The director shall have custody, care and control of the property and equipment of the department and shall oversee preparation of the departmental budget. He/she shall conduct periodic surveys of such property and arrange for the appropriate acquisition and surplus of departmental property and equipment.
