8.32.010 Open fire without permit prohibited.
Between the first day of April and the fifteenth day of October of each and every year hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, company or corporation to set or start a fire in the city of Shelton except in a stove, furnace, fireplace or incinerator without having first secured a permit so to do. (Prior code § 16.12.010)
8.32.020 Acquiring permits.
Permits to start such fires during such period may be obtained from the chief of the fire department without cost upon application therefor. The chief of the fire department shall issue permits upon such application unless the granting of the permit and the starting of the fire would create or cause a fire hazard, and the chief of the fire department shall exercise a reasonable discretion in granting or refusing to grant permits. 8.32.030 Appealing permit denial.
Any person, firm, company or corporation denied a permit may, within fifteen days after such refusal and denial, appeal to the council of the city of Shelton by serving upon the city attorney and filing with the city treasurer-clerk written notice of appeal, and within two weeks thereafter the application shall be heard de novo and acted upon. 8.32.040 Application for permit.
The application for a permit should be made upon such forms and shall furnish such information as the chief of the fire department of the city may deem proper. (Prior code § 16.12.040)
8.32.050 Penalties for violations.
Any person found guilty of violating any of the terms and conditions of this chapter upon conviction, shall be punished by fine not exceeding one hundred dollars and/or by imprisonment in the city jail for a period not to exceed thirty days. (Prior code § 16.12.050)
