10.04.010 Applicability.
The words and phrases set out in this chapter, when used in this title, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter, unless where used the context thereof clearly indicates to the contrary. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1 (part), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.010)
10.04.020 Curb loading zone.
“Curb loading zone” means space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1(h), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.020)
10.04.030 Curb loading zone, freight.
“Freight curb loading zone” means space adjacent to a curb for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of freight. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1(j), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.030)
10.04.040 Curb loading zone, passenger.
“Passenger curb loading zone” means place adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1(i), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.040)
10.04.050 Official time standard.
Whenever certain hours are named in this title, they shall mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in this city. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 §1 (f), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.050)
10.04.055 Park – Parking.
“Park” or “parking” means the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading of passengers or merchandise. (Ord. 1448 § 1, 1989)
10.04.060 Police officer.
“Police officer” means every officer of the municipal police department or any officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulations. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1(g), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.070)
10.04.070 Right-of-way.
“Right-of-way” means the right of the vehicle or pedestrian to proceed in a lawful manner in preference to another vehicle or pedestrian approaching under such circumstances of direction, speed, and proximity as to give rise to the danger of collision unless one grants precedence to the other. 10.04.080 Stand or standing.
“Stand or standing” means the halting of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers. (Ord. 882 Art. 1 § 1(d), 1969. Prior code § 9.03.090)
10.04.090 Stop or stopping.
“Stop,” when required, means complete cessation of movement. “Stop” or “stopping,” when prohibited, means any halting even momentarily of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic control sign or signal.
