10.52.010 Maximum weights – Permits to exceed.

A. It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate any vehicle of four wheels or less, over and along the streets, roads and highways in the city, whose gross weight including load is more than 24,000 pounds, or any vehicle having a greater weight than 22,400 pounds on one axle, or any vehicle having a combined weight of over 800 pounds per inch width of tire upon any wheel concentrated upon the surface of the highways, (the width of tire flanges of the rim); provided, that in special cases vehicles whose weight including load exceeds those prescribed in this section may operate under special written permits which must be first obtained, and under such terms and conditions as to time, route, equipment, speed and otherwise as shall be determined by the city council, from whom permits shall be obtained.

B. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this section shall be deemed to have committed a traffic infraction. (Ord. 1305 § 1, 1985: Ord. 293 §§ 1, 2, 1923. Prior code §§ 9.20.010, 9.20.020)
