TV SATELLITE RECEIVING STATIONS

15.42.010 Installation and location.
TV satellite receiving stations shall be located and installed in such a way as to meet the following requirements:
A. In R-1, R-2, R-3, P-B and M-H zoning districts within the City, TV satellite receiving stations shall be located in the rear yard, as defined in SMC 17.04.030, and shall not be located within five feet of any side or rear lot line, and shall not be located within 20 feet of any City street. In all other zoning districts of the City, TV satellite receiving stations shall be located in such a way so as to comply with the setback requirements of the respective zones. It is further provided, that no TV satellite receiving stations shall be located on any easement or located on any property, in any zoning district within the City, in such a way as to obstruct or interfere with safe travel along public roadways or walkways or in any unsafe or hazardous manner.
B. No TV satellite receiving stations shall be installed or mounted on any structure where the highest point of said TV satellite receiving station or its supporting structure, or any part thereof, is in excess of 30 feet high.
C. Each TV satellite receiving station shall have sight screening of either fencing or vegetation, around the station, so as to minimize the visual impact of said TV satellite receiving station from any public street and from adjoining property.
D. No TV satellite receiving station exceeding 36 inches in any dimension shall be mounted on the roof of a building, unless the TV satellite receiving station will not be visible from any City street, or from any point within 500 feet of the station. [Ord. 1522 § 1, 1985.]
15.42.020 Permit required.
A building permit shall be required for installation of any TV satellite receiving station, with the cost of said permit being $10.00 per installation. The purpose of such permit is to facilitate a check of the compliance with the provisions of this chapter and to review foundation and structural integrity and the safety thereof. 15.42.030 Variance.
In cases where there are demonstrated reception difficulties or problems with installation of TV satellite receiving stations, the Board of Adjustment of the City is authorized to grant, in writing, a variance from the requirements of this chapter, provided the Board determines that the conditions set forth in SMC 17.82.020(C)(1), (2) and (3) exist; provided, that no fee shall be charged for an application to the Board of Adjustment for a variance pursuant to this section.
