15.25.010 Numbering system established.
There is established a uniform system of numbering properties and principal buildings and an official system of street names in the city, as shown on the map thereof prepared by the city engineer and on display in the office of the city clerk-treasurer. This map and all explanatory matter printed thereon by the city engineer is adopted and made a part hereof by reference. (Ord. 2004-6 § 1, 2004).
15.25.020 Conformity with system required – Time limit.
All property or parcels of land within the corporate limits of Toppenish shall hereafter be identified by reference to the uniform numbering system adopted in this chapter; provided, all existing numbers of property and buildings not now in conformity with provisions of this chapter shall be changed to conform to the system adopted in this chapter within 12 months of the date of passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter. 15.25.030 Numeral standards and visibility.
A. Numerals indicating the official number of each building shall be conspicuously placed immediately above or at either side of the front entrance of a building so that the number can be plainly seen from the fronting street.
B. The numerals used shall be not less than three inches in height and shall be of durable material.
C. The numerals shall be set on a background of contrasting color.
D. When view of the building from the street is blocked by trees or shrubs or other sight obstruction, the numerals shall be on a sign attached to a fence or gate or shall be otherwise posted to be clearly visible from the street. (Ord. 2004-6 § 1, 2004).
15.25.040 New construction.
Whenever any house, mobile home or building shall be erected or located in the city after the enactment of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the city clerk-treasurer shall designate a number for said house or building in accordance with the uniform numbering system adopted in this chapter. Final approval of any house, mobile home or building erected, located, repaired or remodeled after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall be withheld by the city building official until the property numerals have been affixed to said structure. 15.25.050 Violation – Penalty.
The violation of any provisions of this chapter shall be a civil infraction, with a monetary penalty not to exceed $1,000. (Ord. 2004-6 § 1, 2004).
