HUNTING AND TRAPPING

6.20.010 Hunting and trapping.
It is unlawful to hunt, trap or capture, or attempt to hunt, trap or capture, any animal or bird within the town of Twisp; provided, that this section shall not apply to the following persons or activities:
(1) Shooting, trapping, tracking or capturing of nuisance animals or birds by law enforcement officers or game department personnel while engaged in the performance of their official duties.
(2) Shooting, trapping, tracking or capturing of rats, mice, moles, or similar vermin.
(3) The nonlethal trapping or capturing of nuisance animals or birds by means designed to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals.
(4) A person who has obtained a valid and current Washington State Fish and Wildlife depredation permit, follows all rules and regulations set forth by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, notifies the town of Twisp’s police department in advance, and uses only a bow and arrow, at a distance of no less than 150 feet at all times from any building and/or roadway which must be maintained for public safety purposes.
(5) Hunting during any archery season established by the rules and regulations of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and within a tract of land which consists of no less than 10 contiguous acres, and at a distance of no less than 150 feet at all times from any building and/or roadway which must be maintained for public safety purposes.
(6) A person who is defending themselves, or others, or a pet or domestic animal from immediate danger from wildlife. (Ord. 636 § 1, 2011)
6.20.020 Penalty.
Violation of this chapter shall constitute a civil infraction, punishable by a civil fine of a maximum of $250.00 per offense. (Ord. 636 § 1, 2011)
