2.04.010 Meetings.
The city council shall hold regular council meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at the hour of five-thirty p.m. in council chambers at Community Center or such other place that the council may establish. When a holiday falls on that Wednesday, the regular council meeting will be held on the following Thursday. The city council shall hold work sessions when deemed necessary by either a council member, the council as a whole, or the mayor, prior to the regularly scheduled council meetings at a time determined appropriate by the council. Work sessions should generally be held before regular council meetings. 2.04.020 Attendance.
Council members should appear at all meetings. If a council member is absent without excuse for three consecutive city council meetings, the city council may declare the seat vacant. Whether or not an absence is excused is solely determined by the mayor. The city council may adopt further policies and procedures regarding attendance at city council meetings. 2.04.025 Vacancies.
The city of Wapato adopts by reference RCW 35.23.101, and any amendments thereto, to determine whether a council position is vacant and the filling of vacant council positions. (Ord. 1307 §14(A), 2015)
2.04.030 Councilmember salary.

2.04.035 Council member compensation.
A. Council members shall be compensated at a rate of fifty dollars per meeting attended each month, the maximum amount to be no more than one hundred dollars per month. Meetings for the purpose of this section include regularly scheduled city council meetings, work session meetings, and/or committee meetings. However, work session meetings and/or committee meetings scheduled to coincide or meet prior to or after a city council meeting shall not be counted as an additional meeting if the city council meeting is also attended.
B. Council members shall submit, before the fifth day of each calendar month, an invoice outlining the meetings attended, as well as the time spent at that meeting. If a council member seeks to be compensated for a meeting not included above, he or she must explain in writing the meeting and why he or she should be compensated therefor. It will be in the sole discretion of the mayor to determine whether a council member should receive compensation for meetings not specifically provided for in this section. The mayor must approve in writing the compensation for meetings not specifically provided for herein. (Ord. 1307 §14(B), 2015: Ord. 1294 §1, 2014)
2.04.040 Open public meetings.
All council meetings, committee meetings, commission meetings, or other meetings subject to the Open Public Meetings Act shall be held in conformance therewith. (Ord. 1307 §14(C), 2015)
2.04.050 Public records.
All council members, commissioners or appointed officials understand that all communications and documents, including electronic communications and documents, utilized or created in the course of their work for and with the city, are subject to the Public Records Act. (Ord. 1307 §14(D), 2015)
