9.44.020 Opening and/or consuming liquor or possession of an open container of liquor in a public place.

Except as permitted by RCW Title 66, no person shall open a package containing liquor, consume liquor, or possess an open container of liquor in a public place. A person violating this code section is guilty of a Class 3 civil infraction. Officers who observe persons violating this section may dispose of the alcohol and package and/or container immediately upon confirmation that the package and/or container contains alcohol.
