1.32.010 Declaration of purpose.
All property coming into the hands of the police department of the city of Wenatchee through seizure, abandonment or otherwise shall be held and disposed of as provided in this chapter. (Ord. 2003-07 § 1)
1.32.020 Records to be kept – Notice of sale – Time limit for keeping.
There shall be kept in the office of the chief of police a record containing a description of all property seized or taken by any member of the police force, or coming into the possession of the police department, with the date of its receipt and the manner in which, and source from which it was received.
The chief of police shall, whenever he deems it necessary and whenever the amount of such property justifies the expense, publish in the official newspaper a description of all such property which shall have been in custody for a period of three months or more, unless the same shall have been ordered destroyed, together with a notice that the same will be sold at public auction at a place therein stated, not less than 10 days after the publication of such notice, unless the owners shall, prior to such time, prove ownership and reclaim the same. 1.32.030 Sale – Conduct of.
As provided in said notice of sale, the chief of police, any authorized officer, or any authorized organization, shall sell at public auction said property and the proceeds from the sale thereof shall be deposited with the city treasurer. (Ord. 2003-07 § 4)
1.32.040 Lost and found property.
The following sections of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), as they now exist or as they may be hereafter amended, are hereby adopted by reference as part of this chapter in all respects as though such sections were set forth in full: RCW 63.21.010, 63.21.020, 63.21.030, 63.21.040, 63.21.050, 63.21.060, 63.21.070, 63.21.080, and 63.21.090.
