2.09.010 Office created.

There is hereby created the office of city clerk, which office shall be filled by appointment of the mayor and/or city administrator, subject to confirmation by a majority of the city council; said clerk shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor and/or city administrator. (Ord. 1699 § 2, 2024)

2.09.020 Duties – Bond.

In addition to those duties prescribed by law for the city clerk it shall be their duty to keep the corporate seal and all papers and documents belonging to the city of Westport; to file them in their office under appropriate heads; to attend the sittings of the council and to keep a journal of their proceedings and a report of all their resolutions and ordinances; to sign all warrants and licenses issued in pursuance of the orders and ordinances of the council and to affix the corporate seal on all such licenses; to sign all deeds, leases, contracts, bonds and other documents when authorized by the council. Before entering upon the duties of their office they shall execute and deliver to the city a good and sufficient bond in the sum of $5,000. (Ord. 1699 § 2, 2024)

2.09.030 Salary.

The salary of the city clerk shall be in a sum to be fixed by the city council from time to time. (Ord. 1699 § 2, 2024)
