2.60.010 Created – Department head.
There is created a new department which shall be a part of the department of public works denominated of the city of Westport motor pool department. The head of the said department shall be director of public works for the city. (Ord. 815 § 1, 1988)
2.60.020 Director’s duties and responsibilities.
The director of the city’s motor pool shall have control over all motor vehicles and major engine driven mobile equipment owned or leased by the city and shall be responsible for maintaining, repairing, replacing and supervising the use of said motor vehicles and equipment. The director shall further be responsible to reporting to the mayor and city council on the state of all city motor vehicles and equipment and the needs of the city for new or replacement vehicles or equipment; provided, however, that this shall not preclude other department heads of the city from requesting new or additional motor vehicles or equipment. 2.60.030 Maintenance program – Inventory – Qualifications for operators.
(1) The director shall establish a maintenance program for said equipment and motor vehicles, catalog and inventory the same and prepare histories of all equipment. The director shall establish qualifications of the operators of each type of motor vehicle and equipment and maintain safety programs for the operator of said equipment.
(2) The director of the motor pool shall perform these acts with the advice and consent of other department heads of the city. (Ord. 815 § 3, 1988)
2.60.040 Permanent assignment of vehicles.
Nothing in this chapter shall prevent the director of the motor pool from permanently assigning the vehicles to various department heads or functions within the city. (Ord. 815 § 4, 1988)
