The clerk-treasurer or city administrator is authorized to establish procedures for the acceptance of credit cards, charge cards, debit cards, federal wire, and automatic clearinghouse system transactions, or other electronic communication, for payment of fees, rates, and charges. Costs associated with the use of credit cards may be assessed against the paying party, if allowed by the credit card issuing organization, or assumed as a cost of business as determined by the clerk-treasurer in a policy approved by the city council.
