10.20.020 Definitions.
The terms “travel trailer,” “sleeping trailer,” “camper,” “van” or “motor vehicle” as used in this chapter means a vehicle designed as a recreational residence and equipped for cooking and eating and/or sleeping and contain less than 256 square feet. (Ord. 771 § 3, 1985)
10.20.030 Applicability.
This chapter shall not govern the use of travel trailers, sleeping trailers, campers, vans or motor vehicles occupying any private or public recreational vehicle park or campground. (Ord. 771 § 4, 1985)
10.20.040 Prohibited on private property.
Except as provided in this chapter, it is unlawful for any person or persons to occupy for sleeping or dwelling purposes any travel trailer, sleeping trailer, camper, or motor vehicle on any private property in the city. (Ord. 771 § 1, 1985)
10.20.050 Requirements for occupancy.
A travel trailer, sleeping trailer, camper, van or motor vehicle may be occupied for sleeping or dwelling purposes, except in areas zoned residential and Ocean Beach residential as per Westport’s current zoning map further defined in WMC Title 17, Zoning.
(1) The travel trailer, sleeping trailer, camper, van or motor vehicle be equipped for sleeping or dwelling purposes;
(2) The travel trailer, sleeping trailer, camper, van or motor vehicle be located within 150 feet of toilet facilities available for use by the resident of the vehicle, or have self-contained toilet facilities within the vehicle;
(3) Occupancy of the vehicle shall not exceed 14 days in any 30-day period;
(4) The vehicle shall be a currently licensed vehicle. (Ord. 943, 1993; Ord. 818, 1988; Ord. 771 § 2, 1985)
