12.20.010 Definitions.
For the purposes of this chapter, the following words have the meanings provided by this section:
“Commercial” means real property used for the carrying on of a trade, whether wholesale or retail and includes but is not limited to professional services and multifamily residences, but does not include duplex-residential units.
“Residential” means property containing a single-family dwelling used solely for residential purposes. (Ord. 583 § 1, 1979)
12.20.020 Single-family or duplex-residential width specifications.
Single-family or duplex-residential facilities may be served by driveways of the following widths:

12.20.030 Commercial building or facility width specifications.
Driveway access is required for any commercial building or improvement other than single-family or duplex-residential facilities, and shall be the following widths:

12.20.040 Minimum distance between driveways on the same or adjacent lots.
The minimum distance allowed between driveways on the same lot is 18 feet, the minimum distance between driveways located on adjacent lots is 10 feet measured at the property line. (Ord. 583 § 4, 1979)
12.20.050 Restrictions.
(1) No driveway shall be constructed closer than 35 feet from any city street intersection as measured from the property lines, except by permission from the city council with the approval of the director of public works.
(2) No driveway shall be constructed closer than six feet to any alley.
(3) No driveway shall be constructed within three feet of any fire hydrant or utility pole. (Ord. 583 § 5, 1979)
12.20.060 Distance between driveways on street frontage.
No more than one driveway is permitted for each 75 feet of street frontage. (Ord. 583 § 6, 1979)
12.20.070 Approval required for joint-use driveway.
Adjacent property owners may construct a joint-use driveway only upon the formal written agreement of both property owners and the approval of the director of public works. (Ord. 583 § 7, 1979)
