2.20.010 Established.
There is established as an inferior court of the state of Washington to be known and designated as a municipal court and which shall be entitled “The Municipal Court of the Town of Winthrop, Washington,” hereinafter designated and referred to as the “municipal court”. (Ord. 296 § 1, 1984)
2.20.020 Jurisdiction and powers.
The municipal court shall have jurisdiction and shall exercise all powers conferred by Chapter 258, Laws of 1984, Regular Session of the State of Washington, specifically including, but not limited to, the jurisdiction and powers conferred under Section 104 of said Chapter 258, Laws of 1984. 2.20.030 Municipal court judge.
A. The mayor of the town shall appoint the judge of the municipal court, with the approval of the town council, for a term of four years; provided, however, that the term of the municipal judge serving on the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall expire January 1, 1986, and the terms of successor judges shall commence on January 1, 1986, and on January 1st of each fourth year thereafter. Appointment to the office of municipal judge shall be made on or before December 1st of the year next preceding the year in which the terms commence. The person appointed to the office of the judge of the municipal court shall have all of the qualifications set forth in Section 106 of said Chapter 258, Laws of 1984, and shall be required to take and subscribe the oath as required by Section 110 of said Chapter 258.
B. The salary of the municipal judge from and after January 1, 2024, is hereby set at the sum of seven hundred seventy-five dollars and forty-eight cents ($775.48) per calendar month. (Ord. 777 § 2, 2023; Ord. 765 § 2, 2022; Ord. 758 § 1, 2022; Ord. 474 § 3(K), 1996; Ord. 296 §§ 3, 4, 1984)
