2.56.010 Authorized.

The borough shall be empowered to provide fire protection, in accordance with Section S07.15.720 of the Alaska Statutes. (Approved by a vote of the people, October 5, 1965).

2.56.020 Powers and duties of the department.

The fire department is charged with the management of the following services to protect the people and property from fire: fire control and suppression, fire prevention, rescue, fire cause determination and public fire education. All duties and powers shall be in accordance with federal, state and local laws. In the performance of these and related duties, the fire department shall work closely with other agencies at all levels of government who share or hold the same duties and responsibilities.
