9.20.010 Keeping house – Procuring.
Any person, firm, corporation, or association shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor who shall:
(a) Keep, set up, maintain, or operate any house, place, building, other structure or part thereof, or vehicle, trailer, or other conveyance for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
(b) Knowingly own any house, place, building, other structure or part thereof, or vehicle, trailer, or other conveyance used for the purpose of lewdness, assignation, or prostitution; or let, lease, rent, or contract to let, lease, or rent any such place, premises, or conveyance or part thereof, to another with knowledge or reasonable cause to believe that the intention of the lessee or rentee is to use such place, premises, or conveyance for prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
(c) Offer, or to offer to secure, another for the purpose of prostitution or for any other lewd or indecent act;
(d) Receive, or to offer or agree to receive, any person into any house, place, building, other structure, vehicle, trailer, or other conveyance for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness, or assignation, or to permit any person to remain there for any such purpose;
(e) Direct, take, or transport, or to offer or agree to take or transport, or aid or assist in transporting, any person to any house, place, building, other structure, vehicle, trailer, or other conveyance, or to any other person with knowledge or reasonable cause to believe that the purpose of such directing, taking, or transporting is prostitution, lewdness, or assignation;
(f) Procure a female inmate for a house of prostitution, or to cause, induce, persuade, or encourage by promise, threat, violence, or by any scheme or device a female to become a prostitute or to remain an inmate of a house of prostitution; or to induce, persuade, or encourage a female to come into or leave this city for the purpose of prostitution, or to become an inmate in a house of prostitution; or to receive or give, or agree to receive or give, any money or thing of value for procuring or attempting to procure any female to become a prostitute or an inmate for a house of prostitution;
(g) Knowingly accept, receive, levy, or appropriate any money or other thing of value, without legal consideration, from the proceeds or earnings of any woman engaged in prostitution. (Code 1962 § 13-21)
9.20.020 Engaging in.
Any person or persons shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor who shall:
(a) Engage in prostitution, lewdness, or assignation; or
(b) Solicit, induce, entice, or procure another to commit an act of lewdness, assignation, or prostitution with himself or herself; or
(c) Reside in, enter, or remain in any house, place, building, or other structure, or to enter or remain in any vehicle, trailer, or other conveyance, for the purpose of prostitution, lewdness or assignation. (Code 1962 § 13-22)
9.20.030 Definitions.
In construing KMC 9.20.010 and 9.20.020, the term “prostitution” includes the giving or receiving of the body for sexual intercourse for hire, and shall also be construed to include the giving or receiving of the body for indiscriminate sexual intercourse without hire. The term “lewdness” includes any indecent or obscene act. The term “assignation” includes the making of any appointment or engagement for prostitution or lewdness, or any act in furtherance of such appointment or engagement. (Code 1962 § 13-23)
9.20.040 Common fame to be competent evidence.
In all prosecutions for crimes defined in KMC 9.20.010 and 9.20.020, common fame shall be competent evidence in support of any complaint or information. (Code 1962 § 13-24)
