2.64.010 Established.

A. There is established, under the provisions of Section 233 of the California State Welfare and Institutions Code, a juvenile delinquency prevention commission.

B. The board of supervisors designates the juvenile justice commission as the delinquency prevention commission, pursuant to Section 233 of the California State Welfare and Institutions Code.

C. This commission shall be known as the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention commission of Alpine County. (Ord. 468 § 1 (part), 1987)

2.64.020 Membership.

A. Membership of the commission shall be composed of not fewer than seven or more than fifteen citizens, two or more of which shall be between the ages of fourteen and twenty-one, provided they are persons who are able to carry out the duties to the satisfaction of the court.

B. Appointments to the commission shall be made by the presiding judge of the superior court.

C. Terms of office shall be for a period of four years. Terms shall be staggered with one-half of the terms expiring in even-numbered years and one-half of the terms in odd-numbered years. The established terms of office of the existing juvenile justice commission shall remain in effect.

D. There shall be a chairperson, vice-chairperson and a secretary. (Ord. 468 § 1 (part), 1987)

2.64.030 Powers and duties.

A. It shall be the duty of the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention commission to inquire into the administration of the juvenile court law in the county and coordinate on a countywide basis work of governmental and nongovernmental organizations engaged in activities designed to prevent juvenile delinquency.

B. It shall be the duty of the commission to assure that needed services are identified, developed and provided for the children and youth of the county, particularly services which relate to the curtailing from or diversion of youth out of the juvenile justice system.

C. It shall be the duty of the commission to promote interagency cooperation, and coordinate a communication network.

D. It shall also be the duty of the commission to carry out its statutory functions as defined in Section 229 and 233 of the California State Welfare and Institution Code; and perform any acts which may be necessarily common, desirable, or proper to carry out the purpose of the commission. 2.64.040 Compensation—Expenses reimbursement—Funding.

A. The members of the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention commission shall serve without compensation, but each member shall be reimbursed for necessary travel and expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. Reimbursement shall be in accordance with the travel ordinance of Alpine County.

B. The board of supervisors shall provide such funding as deemed necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the commission. The commission may apply and receive funding from other governmental and nongovernmental sources. (Ord. 468 § 3, 1987)

2.64.050 Reports.

The commission shall submit to the judge of the superior court and the chairman of the board of supervisors not later than June 30th of each year an activity and expenditure report. (Ord. 468 § 4, 1987)
