2.68.010 Purpose.
A. The board of supervisors hereby finds that it requires the assistance of an advisory agency in the preparation of plans for the sound and orderly growth and development of the county, and in the processing of procedures and regulations related to such plans.
B. The board further finds that the establishment of a planning commission will fulfill such requirement and that of the State Planning Law. (Ord. 640 (part), 2002: Ord. 232 § 1, 1962)
2.68.020 Creation—Membership.
There is created a planning commission, to be known as the Alpine County planning commission, which shall consist of five members who are residents of the county, and who are not elected county officials. The board of supervisors shall strive to select one member from each of the board of supervisor districts to serve on the commission. However, there shall be no requirement to have a commission member from each board of supervisor district. (Ord. 640 (part), 2002: Ord. 284 § 1, 1968: Ord. 232 § 2(A), 1962)
2.68.030 Terms of office and compensation.
A. The members shall be appointed by the board of supervisors and shall serve four-year terms with no more than two terms expiring in the same year.
B. Compensation of members shall be as specified by the board of supervisors. (Ord. 640 (part), 2002: Ord. 232 § 2, 1962)
2.68.040 Powers, duties and procedures.
A. The commission shall exercise all the powers and duties provided for a county planning commission under the laws of the state, and such duties as are given it by the board of supervisors.
B. The provisions of this section shall not be construed as affecting or limiting, or as a prerequisite to, the powers of the board or electors of the county to legislate, or in any way to conflict with the powers and duties of the board and the several departments or boards of the county.
C. The county planning commission may, from time to time, adopt a resolution setting forth the rules of procedure for the commission. (Ord. 640 (part), 2002: Ord. 232 § 3, 1962)
