2.44.010 Councilmembers – Amount – Payment method.
As prescribed by Government Code Section 36516, each member of the city council will receive, as salary, the sum of $589.64 per month. This salary shall be payable at the same time and in the same manner as the salaries are paid to other officers and employees of the city. 2.44.030 Councilmembers – Salary to be in addition to reimbursement.
The salaries prescribed in BGMC 2.44.010 are exclusive of any amounts payable to each member of the council as reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties for the city. (Ord. 621a § 3, 1993; prior code § 2300.2).
2.44.031 Councilmembers’ compensation for serving on newly established city commissions, committees, boards, authorities or other similar bodies.
The compensation to be paid to any member of the city council who serves on any city commission, committee, board, authority, or similar body which is established or created after January 1, 2006, shall receive the sum of $150.00 per month per entity for serving as a member of such commission, committee, board, authority, or similar body, unless another amount is specifically provided by statute. This section is not intended to affect, alter or adjust any compensation established and authorized by ordinances or resolutions in effect prior to January 1, 2006. (Ord. 794 § 1, 2006).
2.44.040 Officers and employees.
The salaries and compensation of officers and employees of the city shall be as fixed and determined by resolution of the city council, except those fixed in this code. (Prior code § 2301).
2.44.050 City clerk – When office is consolidated with city manager.
The office of the city clerk may be consolidated with that of city manager, and in such case the city clerk shall not receive a salary. However, the city council shall establish by resolution the salary of the officer who shall be both city manager and city clerk. (Ord. 316 § 12, 1973; prior code § 2302).
2.44.060 City manager.
The city manager shall receive such compensation as the city council shall from time to time determine and fix. Said compensation shall be a proper charge against the funds of the city, and the city council shall designate such funds. (Ord. 316 § 12, 1973; prior code § 2106).
