6.16.010 Adoption of the 2022 California Electrical Code, as amended by Title 27, Los Angeles County Electrical Code (adopted 2022 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors).
A. The 2022 California Electrical Code as amended by Title 27, Los Angeles County Electrical Code (adopted 2022 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors), which provides minimum requirements and standards for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare by regulating the installation or alteration of electrical wiring, equipment, materials, and workmanship in the city, provides for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor and provides penalties for the violations thereof, with all changes and amendments thereto, is hereby adopted by reference and all conflicting ordinances are hereby repealed.
B. All of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of said codes, together with their appendices, one copy of which will be on file and accessible to the public for inspection at the community development department, are hereby referred to, adopted and made part of this chapter as if fully set forth in this chapter with the exceptions, deletions, additions and amendments thereto as set forth in this chapter. 6.16.020 Definitions.
Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in the Bell Gardens electrical code, each such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:
“Chief electrical inspector” shall mean the building official of the city of Bell Gardens.
“County,” “county of Los Angeles” or “unincorporated areas of the county of Los Angeles” shall mean the city of Bell Gardens.
“Maintenance electrician” shall mean a person holding a valid certificate of registration as maintenance electrician issued by the county of Los Angeles as set forth in Section 82-4(b) and 82-4(c) of said Title 27, Los Angeles County Electrical Code, or a person otherwise determined to be qualified by the building official.
“Special inspector” shall mean a person holding a valid certificate of registration as special inspector issued by the county of Los Angeles as set forth in Section 82-14(a) of said Title 27, Los Angeles County Electrical Code, or a person otherwise determined to be qualified by the building official. 6.16.030 Electrical code fees.
Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter, fees for plan check, inspection and other miscellaneous services shall be based on the most current fee set forth by resolution of the city council. (Ord. 652-U § 4, 1995).
6.16.040 Penalty.
Every person violating any provision of the 2022 California Electrical Code as amended by Title 26, Los Angeles County Electrical Code, and appendices, adopted by reference by BGMC 6.16.010, or of any permit or license granted thereunder, or any rules or regulations promulgated pursuant thereto, is guilty of a misdemeanor unless reduced to an infraction pursuant to Chapter 1.12 BGMC. Upon conviction thereof he or she shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 or imprisonment not to exceed six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. The imposition of such penalty for any violation shall not excuse the violation or permit it to continue. Each day that a violation occurs shall constitute a separate offense.
