2.105.010 Establishment – Membership.

There is created in the city of Benicia a community services commission. The commission shall consist of seven members. (Ord. 24-06 § 7).

2.105.020 Members – Qualifications.

To be eligible for appointment to the commission, an individual shall have demonstrated interest in, and commitment to, furthering the quality-of-life aspects of the city of Benicia, including such things as recreation services and programs, senior services, family resources and human services needs. Appointments shall be to citizens living in Benicia. (Ord. 24-06 § 7).

2.105.030 Powers and duties.

The commission shall have the following duties and powers:

A. Identify and investigate quality-of-life needs and opportunities in the city and annually make recommendations to the city council regarding those needs and opportunities;

B. Advise and inform the city council and staff on recommendations of organizations to receive city grant awards for human services, programs and services; monitor grantee programs and services;

C. Support and promote quality-of-life programs and services that enrich the lives of the community;

D. Explore opportunities to advance services for seniors, develop programs for active aging, and support initiatives that help seniors remain independent and engaged in community life;

E. Develop and promote recreation and sport programs and opportunities in Benicia. (Ord. 24-06 § 7).
