2.04.010 Meetings – Regular.
A. Regular meetings of the City Council shall be established by resolution each year.
B. Regular meetings can be adjourned to another date and time. (Ord. 769 § 2, 2024; Ord. 723, 2016; Ord. 716, 2015; Ord. 466, 1991; prior code § 2.1-1).
2.04.020 Meetings – Special.
A. A special meeting of the Council may be called at any time by the mayor or by three members of the Council, by delivering personally or by mail written notice to each member of the Council and to each local newspaper of general circulation, radio or television station requesting notice in writing.
B. Such notice must be delivered personally or by mail at least 24 hours before the time of such meeting as specified in the notice.
C. The notice shall specify the time and place of the special meeting and the business to be transacted.
D. No other business shall be considered at such meetings by the Council.
E. Such written notice may be dispensed with as to any member who at or prior to the time the meeting convenes files with the City Clerk a written waiver of notice.
F. Such waiver may be given by telegram.
G. Such written notice may also be dispensed with as to any member who is actually present at the meeting at the time it convenes.
2.04.030 Meetings – Executive sessions.
A. The Council may go into executive session at any time during a regular or special meeting to consider the appointment, employment or dismissal of a public officer or employee, or to hear complaints or charges brought against such officer or employee by another public officer, person or employee unless such officer or employee requests a public hearing, or for any other lawful purpose.
B. The Council also may exclude from any such public or private meeting, during the examination of a witness, any or all other witnesses in the matter being investigated by the Council.
2.04.040 Vacancies.
Vacancies in the Council shall be filled in accordance with Government Code Section 36512. (Ord. 392 § 2, 1983).
2.04.050 Councilmembers – Salaries.
A. Each member of the City Council shall receive a monthly salary of $950.00.
B. In addition to the compensation provided to the Mayor under subsection (A) of this section, the Mayor shall receive an additional monthly salary of $550.00. (Ord. 765 § 2, 2024; Ord. 409 § 1, 1986).
2.04.060 Administrative relations.
The Council may inquire of departments for any information for the necessity of assigning the Council. The Council may not direct any subordinate of the City Manager in the performance of that subordinate person’s duties.
