CEQA REVIEW AND COMPLIANCE

19.10.010 Purpose.
The purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) are to:
A. Inform governmental decision-makers and the public about the environmental effects of proposed activities;
B. Involve the public in the decision-making process;
C. Identify ways that damage to the environment can be avoided or significantly reduced; and
D. Prevent environmental damage by requiring changes in projects through the use of alternatives or mitigation measures. (Ord. 642 § 1, 2007).
19.10.020 Conformance to State provisions.
The City, all public agencies of the City and every citizen of Calistoga have the responsibility to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act, and to comply with the environmental guidelines adopted by the California Resources Agency which are found in Chapter 3, Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations. (Ord. 642 § 1, 2007).
19.10.030 Environmental review procedures.
A. In accordance with the provisions mentioned in CMC 19.10.010, the City has adopted the document, “Environmental Review and Compliance Procedures,” which outlines the City’s environmental review process. Its purpose is to protect both local and regional environmental resources in a manner that reflects local values.
B. All projects are required to follow the procedures as set forth in “Environmental Review and Compliance Procedures,” as established by Resolution No. 2007-065, or as the same may be amended from time to time. (Ord. 642 § 1, 2007).
