10.48.010 Truck route requirements.
A. Whenever any resolution of the city designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a street, the use of which is permitted by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons, the city traffic engineer is hereby authorized to designate such street or streets by appropriate signs as “Truck Routes” for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons.
B. When any such truck route or routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons shall drive on such route or routes and none other, except that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight of five tons, coming from a truck route, having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets, or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor.
C. The provisions of this section shall not apply to:
1. Passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission; or
2. Any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility.
D. Those streets and parts of streets established by resolution of the council are declared to be truck routes for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum gross weight of five tons. (Ord. 480-94 § 2 (part), 1994; Ord. 219 § 13.1, 1965)
10.48.020 Vehicle restrictions—Where.
A. No commercial vehicle or any vehicle having a gross maximum weight exceeding five tons shall be operated in any street or portion thereof in the city.
B. The following streets shall be specifically exempt from the provisions of this chapter:
1. East First Street between the east city limits and Asti Road;
2. Asti Road;
3. Citrus Fair Drive (Central Interchange) between Asti Road and South Cloverdale Boulevard;
4. Cloverdale Boulevard between Citrus Fair Drive and the south city limit;
5. Any street or portion thereof as a street in any area zoned industrial.
C. The city traffic engineer shall erect and maintain appropriate signs on those streets described in subsection B of this section indicating that those streets are not affected by this chapter.
D. The provisions of this section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission.
E. Nothing in this section shall prohibit any commercial vehicles coming from an unrestricted street having ingress and egress by direct route to and from a restricted street when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted street or for the purpose of delivering material to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted street for which a building permit has previously been obtained. 10.48.021 Other regulations.
Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 10.48.020, no commercial vehicle or any vehicle having a gross maximum weight exceeding ten tons shall be operated on Cloverdale Boulevard between Citrus Fair Drive and the north city limit. (Ord. 480-94 § 2 (part), 1994)
10.48.030 Advertising vehicles unlawful where.
No person shall operate or drive any vehicle used for advertising purposes or any advertising vehicle equipped with a sound-amplifying or loudspeaking device upon any street or alley at any time within the central traffic district. (Ord. 219 § 13, 1965)
