11.16.010 Definitions.
In this chapter:
A. “East” includes northeast;
B. “North” includes northwest;
C. “Original townsite” refers to the original town of Dinuba as shown on the map or plat of the town recorded in the office of the county recorder;
D. “South” includes southeast;

11.16.020 Railroad reservation as block.
The Southern Pacific Railroad reservation where crossed shall be considered as a block. (Prior code § 7121)
11.16.030 Administration.
All spaces and house numbering in the city shall be made to conform to the provisions of this chapter and be under the supervision of the superintendent of streets. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7122)
11.16.040 Numbering within original townsite.
Within the original townsite, save on El Monte Way and Alta Avenue, there shall be one hundred numbers allotted to each block in either direction and along both dimensions of each block. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7123)
11.16.050 Numbering outside original townsite.
On El Monte Way and Alta Avenue and elsewhere without the original townsite there shall be allocated one hundred consecutive numbers to each one-sixteenth mile. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1965: prior code § 7123.1)
11.16.060 Odd and even numbers.
The numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of streets shall be odd numbers, and the numbers on the southerly and easterly sides thereof shall be even numbers. (Prior code § 7123.2)
11.16.070 Assigning of particular numbers.
The superintendent of streets shall so far as practicable, assign the numbers on either side of the streets in such a way that the consecutive even and odd numbers shall be opposite each other. (Prior code § 7123.3)
11.16.080 Inquiries as to numbers.
The superintendent of streets shall, on application, furnish information as to the numbers controlled by each lot. (Prior code § 7123.4)
11.16.090 Beginning numbers.
Number 100 is the first number used at the respective beginning points on the sides of the streets which are to contain the even numbers, and 101 for the sides which are to contain the odd numbers. (Prior code § 7123.5)
11.16.100 First numbers for second and following blocks.
At the beginning of the second block from the starting point the first numbers shall be 200 and 201 respectively and so continue throughout the system. (Prior code § 7123.6)
11.16.110 Axes designated.
The axes designated in Sections 11.16.120 and 11.16.130 shall be the respective starting points or dividing lines for numbers on buildings, fronting on streets heretofore or hereafter laid out or extended. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7124)
11.16.120 East to west axes.
The east to west axis within the original townsite is L Street, save on Alta Avenue. The east to west axis without the original townsite is Alta Avenue. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7124.1)
11.16.130 North to south axes.
The north to south axis within the original townsite is Tulare Street, save on El Monte Way. The north to south axis without the original townsite is El Monte Way. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7124.2)
11.16.140 Beginning and sequence of numbers.
Numbers shall begin at the starting points or dividing lines and continue to the termini of the respective streets. (Ord. 304 § 1 (part), 1955: prior code § 7124.3)
11.16.150 North and south streets not reaching axes.
In the case of north and south streets within the original townsite which do not touch or cross Tulare Street, numbering shall begin at the termini nearest Tulare Street and progress toward the limit of the original townsite. In the case of north and south streets without the original townsite which do not touch or cross El Monte Way, numbers shall be allotted as though such streets were extended to El Monte Way, and numbering shall begin with the appropriate numbers computed from EI Monte Way. 11.16.160 East and west streets not reaching axes.
In the case of east and west streets within the original townsite which do not touch or cross L Street, numbering shall begin at the termini nearest L Street and progress toward the limit of the original townsite. In the case of east and west streets without the original townsite which do not touch or cross Alta Avenue, numbers shall be allotted as though such streets were extended to Alta Avenue, and numbering shall begin with the appropriate numbers computed from Alta Avenue. 11.16.170 Placing, size and removal of numbers.
The appropriate number of any entrance to any building shall be placed thereon, or in some conspicuous place visible from the street in front thereof in figures large enough to be read from the street, by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of such building, within five days after the receipt by such owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of such building of a notice from the superintendent of streets of the number or numbers designated for such building; and all numbers other than the numbers provided for in this chapter shall be removed from every building by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant thereof, within five days from the service of the notice designating the appropriate numbers to be placed thereon.
