UNDERGROUND UTILITIES

13.32.010 REQUIRED; EXCEPTIONS:

All utility distribution facilities, including, but not limited to, electric, communication and cable television lines, installed in and for the purpose of supplying service to any residential or commercial subdivision, shall be placed underground, except as follows:

A.    Equipment appurtenant to underground facilities, such as surface and mounted transformers, pedestal mounted terminal boxes and meter cabinets, and concealed ducts, if approved by the city engineer;

B.    Metal poles supporting only high voltage wires, switches, transformers and street lights. (1972 Code § 16.19.010; amd. 2003 Code)

13.32.020 COMPLIANCE REQUIRED; WAIVER:

The subdivider is responsible for complying with the requirements of this chapter and shall make the necessary arrangements with the utility companies involved for the installation of facilities. The city council may waive the requirements of this chapter if topographical, soil or any other conditions make underground installation of facilities unreasonable or impractical. 13.32.030 INDUSTRIAL SUBDIVISIONS EXCLUDED:

Industrial subdivisions are excluded from the provisions of this chapter. (1972 Code § 16.19.030)
