It is unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously torture, tease, taunt, torment, beat, kick, strike, mutilate, disable or injure, or kill, any dog used by the police department in the performance of functions or duties of the department, or to willfully or unwarrantably interfere with any such dog while it is being used by the department or by any law enforcement agency, or any officer or employee thereof, in the performance of any function or duty of said department or of such officer or employee in the city. 9.12.020 Violation—Penalty.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this chapter or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements herein shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and such misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment not to exceed six months in the county jail, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
