10.40.010 Riding bicycles on sidewalks prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to ride a bicycle upon any sidewalk in a business district. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.230)

10.40.020 Driving through funeral processions.

No driver of a vehicle shall drive between vehicles comprising a funeral procession while they are in motion and when the vehicles in such procession are conspicuously so designated. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.234)

10.40.030 New pavement.

No person shall ride or drive any animal or any vehicle over or across any newly made pavement or freshly painted marking in any street when a barrier or sign is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when a sign is in place stating that the street or any portion thereof is closed. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.235)

10.40.040 Restricted access.

No person shall drive a vehicle onto or from any limited access roadway except at such entrances and exits as are established by public authority. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.236)

10.40.050 Restrictions on use of freeways.

No person shall drive or operate any bicycle, motor-driven cycle, or any vehicle which is not drawn by a motor vehicle, or drive or ride any horses or livestock, upon any highway established as a freeway, as defined in Section 604.5 of the Vehicle Code, nor shall any pedestrian walk across or along any such street so designated and described except in space set aside for the use of pedestrians, provided official signs are in place giving notice of such restrictions. 10.40.060 Molesting of traffic counting devices prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person, except persons authorized by the Director of Public Services, to move, molest, tamper with or damage any traffic counting device within a City highway. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.241)

10.40.070 Livestock prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to drive or ride or permit to be driven or ridden any livestock upon or along any public highway for a period of 90 days subsequent to the oiling of such highway by the City; provided, that conspicuous signs shall have been erected prohibiting the driving of livestock thereon during such period; and, provided, that there exist practical and feasible means to move such livestock without driving or riding the same upon the oiled portion of the highway. Nothing in this section shall prohibit the straying of livestock in open range territory as defined in Sections 465.5 and 465.6 of the Vehicle Code and posted as provided therein. 10.40.080 Vehicles injurious to highways prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to ride, drive, draw, or propel or permit to be ridden, driven, drawn or propelled along, upon or over any improved highway in the City any vehicle, traction engine, harrow or disc harrow, disc plow or other implement that will tear up or in any manner disturb or damage the surface on the highway. 10.40.090 Loitering and fishing on bridges prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to loiter upon, stand or sit on or fish from any public highway bridge spanning any stream or body or water within the City. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.244)

10.40.100 Motorcycles prohibited on trails.

It is unlawful for any person to operate any motorcycle or power cycle on any riders’ and hikers’ trail within the City. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.245)

10.40.110 Trespass on airport runways prohibited.

A. “Airport runway” means any airport taxiway or runway, and includes all public or private airplane landing strips or airstrips designed and constructed for the landing or taking off of aircraft.

B. It is unlawful for any person to drive a motor vehicle upon any airport runway, whether or not occupied or attended, without first having obtained written permission from the owner thereof or the person lawfully entitled to the possession thereof. 10.40.120 Flashing lights.

No person not authorized by the City Council shall erect or maintain any device which directs a beam of light in a flashing sequence toward any highway, nor shall any person erect or maintain any electric advertising sign or similar device that interferes with the visibility of any official traffic-control device or warning signal. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1981; CC § 72.247)

10.40.130 Removal of flashing lights.

The Director of Public Services shall and is authorized by this chapter to remove or cause to be removed every unofficial sign, signal or device placed, maintained or displayed upon any City highway contrary to the provisions of Section 473 of the Vehicle Code and this title.
