CITY SEAL AND OTHER OFFICIAL CITY INSIGNIA

1.08.020 Use of official city insignia.
1.08.010 Definitions.
A. “Seal” means any seal, insignia, decal or other artistic rendering which is substantially similar to, and is designed or intended to be a facsimile of the common seal of the city of Solana Beach or the city seal, as provided in Government Code Section 40811, and as adopted by Resolution 1986-9 on July 1, 1986.
B. The “Common Seal of the City of Solana Beach” shall be as follows:
C. The “City of Solana Beach Fire Department patch or emblem” shall be as follows:
D. The “City of Solana Beach Lifeguard patch or emblem” shall be as follows:
E. The “City of Solana Beach Junior Lifeguard patch or emblem” shall be as follows:
F. The “City of Solana Beach’s Community Choice Aggregation program, Solana Energy Alliance (SEA) patch or emblem” shall be as follows:
G. “Official city insignia” means a seal of the city of Solana Beach; a seal, patch, emblem, logo, or insignia of any division or program of the city of Solana Beach; a modified seal of the city of Solana Beach for a cultural, ceremonial, or other public event; and any other intellectual property right owned by the city of Solana Beach. 1.08.020 Use of official city insignia.
It is unlawful to use or allow to be used in any manner whatsoever the official city insignia of the city of Solana Beach, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction of the official city insignia, or make or use any design which is an imitation of official city insignia or of the design thereof, or which may be mistaken for the official city insignia of this city or the design thereof, for malicious or commercial purposes, or for any purpose other than for city purposes or for the purposes of any officer, board or department of the city, without the express consent of the city manager of the city of Solana Beach or his/her designee. 1.08.030 Enforcement.
A. Each unlawful use of official city insignia shall constitute a distinct and separate violation and may be punished accordingly.
B. Any person or entity violating or causing or permitting a violation of SBMC 1.08.020 is subject to the penalty provisions as set forth in Chapters 1.16 and 1.18 SBMC. (Ord. 448 § 3, 2014; Ord. 424 § 4, 2010)
