ARTICLE 8. CITY ENGINEER

§430 DUTIES OF CITY ENGINEER
The City Engineer, or, in his or her absence, his or her designee, shall perform all of the duties now or hereafter required of the City Engineer by any law of the State, ordinance of the City, or order of the City Council.
He/she shall establish, mark and make a record of the grades and locations of all public streets, sidewalks, alleys, parks, sewers, gutters and waterways and do such engineering work on public works and property of the City as may be necessary or required by the City Council.
With the approval of the City Council, he shall employ such labor and engage such vehicles, equipment, implements, and facilities as may be necessary in the performance of his/her duties and direct the operation of the same.
The City Engineer shall appoint a designee to serve in his or her absence. The person so designated must be a City employee who possesses the necessary qualifications to perform the duties of the City Engineer. (Ord. 346, §1, adopted 1941; Ord. 987, §1, adopted 1997)
§431 PLACE OF OFFICE
The City Engineer shall have his/her office in the City Hall and shall keep in his/her office all official books, records and maps relating to his/her work. (Ord. 356, §2, adopted 1942)
